Twitter Helps Fight City Hall
This crazy business adventure began with a tweet and yesterday a twitter plea could lead to the solution that helps open Nectar Tasting Room in 2010. It seems as if no business opens without some sort of opposition, struggle and set back. Budget troubles, they don’t worry me; I can mitigate the budget by making different choices. Contractors, they just require constant monitoring. Backordered merchandise just sends me back to the drawing board. Disappearing designers, there is always someone else to jump in. City red tape… …stumped… City code, regulation, permits, all of these things are out of my control. […]
Progress Report: Construction Delays and Collaboration
Everyone knows that when opening a business things never go according to plan and you always spend more than you budgeted. I wish I could say my adventure was different. My original goal was to have Nectar Tasting Room open with a soft launch by November 11 but as it stands now, we probably won’t even have lights, furniture, or a bar installed by then. I’m still keeping an optimistic outlook for a soft launch on Friday, November 26 and an all out marketing assault and opening party on December 3. After a full 10 days of delays and minimal […]
Rebranding: DrinkNectar Becomes Nectar Wine Blog
As paint goes up on the walls at Nectar Tasting Room, it’s time to put up a new coat of paint here on the ol’ blawg. What started as a wine blog has grown into several business opportunities and adventures. Today marks the launch of the new brand(s). As you look around, you’ll see some redecorating as well. For example, I’ve better organized my wine reviews and created logical buckets to make finding information easier. The Brands In November 2009, I launched as DrinkNectar.com. With a picture taken in my basement hiding behind a wine glass and coffee cup, I […]
Meet the Five Wineries of Nectar Tasting Room
The progress continues at Nectar Tasting Room. While not much physically changed this week, we did finalize the design, map out the electrical and lighting, choose flooring and pick paint colors (all in the video). This week I hope to see paint on the walls and progress on the rest. While I still aim to be open the weekend of 11/19-20, there are several things outside of my control (liquor board, licenses, and contractors). Today, I’d like to introduce you to the five wineries who will be participating in the shared space tasting room. The wineries represent five regions from […]
A Sneak Peek Inside Nectar Tasting Room
Welcome to a sneak peek of Nectar Tasting Room. Last week I announced the upcoming opening of a wine tasting room in downtown Spokane. Five Washington wineries will share a 2000 square foot space as their satellite tasting room. The lease has been signed, the wineries have been selected and now the journey begins. There are three questions everyone asks once they hear of the new venture. Where is it? When are you going to open? What wineries are involved? The first I can answer with absolute certainty. The location is 120 N. Stevens right on the corner of […]
