Join Us For Cabernet Day 2011

Every time I drink wine it is a celebration and let’s just say I celebrate quite a bit. Luckily for me, Cabernet Day is right around the corner and invites another reason to raise my glass. This Thursday, September 1 marks the second year of celebration with interest and excitement up tenfold from 2010. Founded by Rick Bakas, formerly the social media director for St. Supery in Napa Valley and now the VP of Marketing at PressPay, Cabernet Day will involve a hell of a lot of folks around the world drinking Cabernet Sauvignon and discussing their experience through social […]

Naches Heights All Organic AVA

12/14/12 UPDATE: NACHES HEIGHTS OFFICIALLY APPROVED AS WASHINGTON’S 12TH VITICULTURE AREA While looking at a map of Washington State’s American Viticultural Areas with a couple of customers at Nectar Tasting Room the other night, I came across a soon-to-be AVA just northwest of the city of Yakima called Naches Heights. One thing intrigued me about Naches Heights: it will be the first 100% organic AVA in the entire United States. Being the secret Hippie that I am (I buy organic […]

Paul Breaux, a local real estate broker, found himself captivated with the 404 acres of property and in 1994 purchased the land (which included 3 acres of planted grapes) to fulfill the vision of Breaux Vineyards. Virginia Here I Come For WBC11

I bet I taste over 100 wines this weekend! What will you be doing? This coming weekend I will be attending the 2011 Wine Bloggers Conference in Charlottesville, VA. Having been born in Roanoke, I’m excited to get back to my roots and sample the grapes grown in the one of the oldest planting regions in the country. Thomas Jefferson tried for years to establish Virginia as a wine growing region and with several failed attempts, Virginia is now the 7th largest wine producing region in the country. After last year’s wine bloggers’ conference, I made note of five things […]
