It’s official, long time friend and Nectar wine slinger is moving on in June. Ben has been with Nectar since week 3 in January 2011. Many of you consider Benny a great friend and we will be sad to see him go. We’ll give you more details soon on the exciting adventures Ben is off to pursue. Save the date for Ben’s going away party on May 24. With that, it’s time to announce that we are hiring a Tasting Room Manager. The position will be filled by the end of March, 2013. This will allow the new person to get acclimated to the systems, learn about our culture, and meet each of you before Ben’s last day.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The person filling the Nectar Tasting Room Manager position will be a service driven person that is well versed in wine knowledge and has an aptitude for entertaining customers, selling wine and wine clubs, and managing the day to day operations of the tasting room.

The position is 32+ hours per week and will be hourly plus tips. Wage will be discussed in the interview process. The typical hours for this position are Wednesday Noon-4pm (operations), Thursday 2-8pm, Friday 2-10pm, Saturday Noon-10pm, Sunday (seasonal) Noon-5pm, and occasional evening events.

SERVICE:

Experience working in a service environment is important to this position. The tasting room manager will need to balance the duties of serving customers at the tasting bar, greeting new customers as they arrive, and serving customers at tables. The tasting room is frequently staffed by one person for private events and average sales days.

The person filling this position will be an ambassador of the Nectar Tasting Room brand and will be, for many, the new face of the brand.

WINE KNOWLEGE:

A good understanding of wine varietals, wine making, and Washington wine is important. Many aspects of this can be learned but the candidate must have a passion for wine and a desire to continue learning to make the customer experience entertaining and educational.  Previous experience in the wine industry is preferred.

OPERATIONS:

The person filling this position will be executing many of the day to day operations including purchasing and stocking non-wine items, updating point of sale systems and online databases, inventory control, and basic cleaning.

There are times when the tasting room is slower. The ideal candidate will be self directed to complete operations tasks during this time.

SALES:

This position requires an aptitude for selling our various products and wine clubs. Sales experience is preferred.
